G – is for Going…

Everybody says: keep going… What if your legs are so tired at certain point, that you feel like one more would end up with your face placed not so peacefully in the pile of dirt. And that’s if you’re lucky, because it could as well be a puddle, or a pile of…guano to say it nicely… After that you pick yourself up and make sure there is no mirrors, no water surfaces, no polished metal (no spoons, no knives and so on, you catch my wave). Because one look at yourself and you’re done. One look into your own eyes and the shame, self-pity, humiliation, and a few not necessarily nice feelings will push you back down.

And if only it concerns your physical legs, that’s not half a problem. Good sleep can fix that. Relaxing bath can fix that. Or a nice massage.

What if it is your soul that is so tired… what if you have that heavy, dreadful feeling inside of you, a feeling that nothing makes sense anymore… And it is your soul that ends up planted in the dirt… In the muck of self denial, because it cannot be you who has all that ugly, internal trash making everything much heavier than it is…

Still you keep going, somehow finding the minimum energy sufficient to do so. To function, to go forward, heck, even to climb up that ladder, scared that if you’re not keeping up, you’re going backwards…

Rat race… Or even not that. Not always it is about possessing more and more. Sometimes you’re just scared if you have enough. So you keep going. Keep the speed up…IMG_8747

…And the life is passing you by with the same speed…

must go…

must go…

look up. Robins came already and are frantically looking for places to make their nests. Or over there. A blue jay. When was the last time Β you saw one? And that cloud over that way? why, it looks just like a rabbit…

Yes, you can do it. While going – lift up your head and look around you. There is a beauty everywhere. You just have to re-discover it yet again.

And then the “going” gets much easier… at both physical and spiritual levels πŸ™‚

  1. I wonder if you may have been running and ran out of energy? Good thoughts.

  2. Love your post Emilia, very uplifting and encouraging – which we all need from time to time.. Keep going for sure, no looking back…:-) Happy I found your blog:-) Thanks for visiting mine

  3. Emilia, thanks for this beautiful reflection and a reminder to take time to enjoy and savor along the way.

  4. Wonderful reflection!
If we contextualize it, then it’s meaning differs from one individual to the next.
For example, a person grieving a loss may “keep going” as a coping mechanism; somebody struggling to make ends meet “keeps going” to get the bills paid and put food on the table; you also have the need for greed which some experience and so they “keep going” to accumulate more and more, but the flip side of that coin is the fact that the more a person acquires, then the higher the standard of living… so it becomes a vicious cycle, so to speak…
Having said that, you are so right in saying we HAVE to stop, breathe, and look around at some point. πŸ˜€

    • even if it is merely to check if we’re not missing something/someone that is right at the reach of our hand πŸ™‚ Or to get the strength back.
thank you for STOPPING by, Michelle πŸ˜€

  5. Sometimes it’s hard to keep going but I constantly remind myself that there is always someone out there who has it worse than me.

    • the whole point is, that sometimes in all that going we forget to stop and take a breath πŸ˜€ usually that helps… to keep going πŸ˜€

  6. A very nice tip in the most coolest and effective ways! πŸ™‚ There’s more to life and you have mentioned it nicely here! πŸ™‚

  7. This is good to keep in mind. I’m thinking right now of a mom whose son was killed in a car crash last weekend. She’ll need us to tell her to keep going.
    Play off the Page

    • hopefully she’ll meet you and other people who will stop in their goings, to grab her by the hand and help her to keep going…

  8. I agree it always isn’t a rat race. Sometimes it’s simply survival. What has to be done to make it until tomorrow. And time to stop and smell the roses isn’t always easy to come by. I’m trying to make more time for smelling and less time for racing. Great thoughts!

    • thank you πŸ™‚
Totally agree – it is not always easy to notice good πŸ™‚ I try though, as I keep thinking we’ve got to look for the good in the world, because the bad just finds itself…

  9. Just keep going and things will look up! I like the attitude of “beauty all around”–thanks for sharing!
