Do you always ask permission of the subject before you post pictures online? Why or why not?

I do not like the words “always” and “never”, so I am going to say here – as much as I can – I try asking permission. But if I am in a public place, in front of a sight of some sort and happen to click a pic that’d have some random people on it – nope. Do not ask. If it is a planned picture of a group of people, or a portrait – yes. Definitely I ask if it’d be ok to post it online. Why? Simply because I do not like to see pictures of me or my family being posted without my knowledge.

For some reason first pic that came to my mind was this one:

The lights, shadows… and the little guy right in the middle of it, doubled by the mirror… I am sure I’d not have been able to take a better pic if I tried and staged it all 😀 Just one of those captured moments that make you wonder – how come I was able to take such a pic! 😀
