C is for not so Curious Cat ;)

cPumpkin joined our family in September 2015. (You can read various stories about him and my other furry family members herehere and here )Never before have I had a cat. Didn’t quite know what to expect, was scared he’d start peeing all over the place (I’ve heard of the cats that would do that!) or pooping into shoes(!!!) just in spite. Conversations I pump1had with cat-owners I knew only calmed me down for a bit. Because – oh yeah, their cats might be just soooo cute, good
and litter-trained, but WHAT IF…

Yeah, those “whatifs” were killing me 🙂

Turns out – Pumpkin somehow was already litter trained (even though as I read in adoption papers, he pump2came to the shelter with his back legs covered in urine 😦 I am trying not to imagine why and how…), and almost never misses 🙂 almost never – because (gross alert!) sometimes chunks of poop sticks to his longish fur and gets out of the litter box… Well, I wouldn’t say it was his fault exactly, but we are on the look for surprises. 🙂pump3

Anyhow – to the topic now. I’ve discovered that the “curiosity killed the cat” saying is a lie!!! WHEN does he have a chance to be curious, if 3/4 of his day he
spends sleeping?? and a good chunk of the awake time – eating? 😀 Huh! Nope. Not curious 🙂

But…. Isn’t he CUTE though? 😀 😀 😀

Running and (possibly) other updates

(Not sure about other updates, but I thought the title sounded good that way 😉 )

One month! That’s how long since my last post! Wow. I’m bad. Blame it on work? sure. But I know deep down inside, that it wasn’t the case. Because I know I can write in the middle of the night, overtired, with one eye sleeping already 😉

Not sure if it is fall, honestly. Today morning I found something like that on my morning run:

And I though: REALLY???? C’mon weather, winter already??? Then I thought, actually… this is deeper than that (and I do not mean the depth of the puddle ;)) – this is Mrs. Autumn saying hello to Mrs. Winter… Sort of a chit-chat. 11810080

Yeah. Right. Who am I kidding? It was freezing, and I was running.
Funny thing, I did not want to run today. I didn’t feel like it. What I felt like doing after dropping the kids off to the bus stop, was curling up in the bed, under some reasonably thick blankie and either reading my cozy or just having a nice nap…

img_20161028_092336Well, didn’t happen.

What happened was that I took my cellphone and keys, got myself prepped for the run (fleece lined leggings and fleece vest for the first time this season… sigh…), and went to drop the kids off… Then I went for a run. I thought 6-7km. But then I guess I forgot how long the loop is, and ended up with a 10k…

And you know what? It felt great. Especially that 2 weeks ago, I had to walk a part of a race (a Turkey Trot 10k)… and it was kind of putting me down a bit… So now I know I can. Again. 🙂

If only it wasn’t so terribly cold…

And then, once I came home, Pumpkin of course had to sniff and try to figure out where did I go… 😉

so much happening, so little time…

I just  discovered that work gets in a way of lots of things.

Take running for example – I used to be able to run in the races Saturdays OR Sundays. Now? Sundays please. Somehow I managed to sign up for more races this year than last… Then again – I can afford to sign up for races and not think: gee, for that amount of money I could get… 🙂

Also – not sure how did that happen – but I signed up for a half marathon… yaaaay me… I have exactly 25 days to prep for it now… considering that my max (happened last Sunday) IMG_5144was just over 18 km, I’m almost there, aren’t I? (what are the 3 missing kms? 🙂 ) yeah… it just does not work that way… I know I can always walk a bit, that there is no real shame in that, but somehow…

Well. For me, walking was always something I was good at. I walked 7 pilgrimages (150-180km each), and I am distinguishing between running and walking – dramatically. I KNOW I can walk those 21 kms. The thing for me is now to be able to RUN it! 🙂

I find I’m reading very little 😦 sigh…

And writing even less…

Always have time for cuddles with Pumpkin though 😉 Whenever His Royal Highness wishes that is… 😉

Here I come, Nano!!!

Like I wrote before – I signed up for NaNoWriMo. That means that I’d make the most serious attempt at actually WRITING a book. Joined/registered at the site, so this is official business now…

So… What did I do so far? In the means of preparation?

IMG_2349aI got a cat.

What? Haven’t you read any of the bios of the cozy mystery authors?? Some 90+% of them have at least one cat! Or are close friends with one! Having a cat is, like, a MUST or something.
So I have (OK, it is a family cat, but haven’t it been for me – we’d not have him. There. 😛 ) Pumpkin.

Though who actually HAS whom here is still debatable…

If even my Husband lets him sleep on his own DESK? Why, lets wait a few weeks and I bet my morning coffee (yeah, that’s how certain I am!) that Pumpkin will possess  his OWN computer AND desk…IMG_2338a

BUT Pumpkin still is not allowed to sleep in any of our beds 😀 That’s how tough I am! Huh! (For how long more? Huh? 😛 )

Anyways. So I have a cat.

I also have two main characters.

And a vague idea of a plot.

Some back stories that I’d like to include…

…And I am scared.

Make it double scared…

First – I’m scared that I will not be able to finish, that the idea will turn out to be too big for me…

Second – I’m scared that I will finish… and it will turn out to be a pile of crap…

Even if so…

…I’ll still have the cat, right…?

Pumpkin :D

So here we go 🙂

And of course there is a story to it.

I spotted this little guy on the shelter’s website before I went there. I showed the picture to my husband, he liked him as well. But there were 2 more cute cats, also orange… So I wasn’t sure…

When I went in there, a mother and a daughter were interested in this one. He had no name at the shelter yet, as his previous owners gave him up just on Friday…

I was sad. I thought – oh well. I guess it wasn’t meant to be. I walked around a bit, played with another cat, but my heart was with this orange sweetie…
And they actually took his paper already, ready to adopt… I did not know that at the moment though, and I came closer, thinking I’d just like to touch his fur… We got into a conversation, I found out they were considering the older cat as well, I said that I’ve never owned a cat, that this one would be our first, and that we have two kids…

Then they called the shelter’s worker and said that even though they started the paperwork for this one(! That’s when I found out  they already decided!), they want to switch and let me adopt him, and they will adopt the older one (long haired)!!! I couldn’t believe it!

Took him home, surprised the kids when they came from school – they were literally in seventh heaven! 🙂

And so – the story begins 🙂 There once was a family of 6 (2 adults, 2 kids and 2 bunnz)… Then they adopted a kitten… And then there were 7! 😀IMG_0339
